Tour highlights
This is a very special tour that concentrates on the Serengeti to follow the great migration. You will spend at least 4 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (largest concentration of big cats) and two where the Migration is according to the time of the year. We have designed this particular tour so that you finish the safari in the most remote location in the Serengeti, and then fly from there to Zanzibar for three days of relaxation.
Detailed itinerary
Day 01; Tarangire national park
Have an early morning pick-up from the lodge or airport and start a beautiful journey to Tarangire National Park while carrying lunch boxes. Once the game drive is over, we drive back to the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.
Tarangire National Park is well known for its large elephant herds, consisting of a diversity of landscapes, from seasonal swamps to savanna with the Tarangire River wending its way through the parklands. It is possible that we will have the experience of seeing a lion stalking his prey or leopards watching whilst relaxing in the trees above. Once the game drives are done, we will drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and our overnight stay.
Overnight at the Lodge or Camping in Karatu
Day 02; Ngorongoro crater tour
After breakfast, depart to Ngorongoro for a game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater while carrying lunch boxes.
This park constitutes the largest uninterrupted caldera in the world and is one of the natural wonders of Africa: with the presence of about 30,000 large mammals resident all year round (such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs and rhinos) and many varieties of birds (such as flamingos, eagles, and buzzards). Be ready to see many animals here within a little time.
Overnight at the Lodge or Camping in Karatu
Day 03; Central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous national park in the world, the Serengeti. The drive itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, “endless plains”. The park has 6,900 sq miles (18,000 sq km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes. As for big cats and large predators, it’s the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous River Crossings having been filmed in this park.
There is a possibility to downgrade or upgrade your accommodation level.
Day 04; Central Serengeti
You’ll have a full day in the Serengeti National Park. We are completely flexible with your preferences and this day will be organised according to your wishes. On every day of the safari, your guide will discuss with you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake-up time. For example, on this day, you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive. Alternatively, you could do a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch.
There is a possibility to downgrade or upgrade your accommodation level.
Day 05 - 06; Following the Great Migration
On these two incredible days, you will be driven across remote locations within the vast Serengeti plains in pursue of the great migration. The areas you visit depend on the time of the year and could be as far as the remote North of the Serengeti near the border with Kenya, or could be in the South (Ndutu Area) or in the Western part of the park.
There is a possibility to downgrade or upgrade your accommodation level.
Day 07; Flying to Zanzibar
On this day, we suggest a very early wake-up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you’ll ever witness. It’s really one of the most beautiful experiences to have. After the game drive, we will return to the camp for a rewarding brunch. We’ll then proceed to the airstrip for your flight to your next amazing destination: Zanzibar. Alternatively, instead of this early morning game drive, you may choose to stay at the camp for a bit of relaxation.
Day 08 - 09; Zanzibar
You can take some rest and enjoy this paradise made of beautiful beaches of white sand and turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. There is a possibility of extra activities such as a day tour in Stone Town (includes Old Town guided tour, Spice Tour and Prison Island – lunch not included), half-day tour (includes Old Town guided tour or Spice Tour or Prison Island). Another suggestion is visiting the Jozani Forest tour (lunch not included).
Day 10; Farewell Zanzibar
You can spend the last hours of your journey relaxing. Afterward, you will have a transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your international flight.
